Overcomer vs. Victim

When life hits you hard, it’s easy to feel like a victim. A broken relationship, a difficult diagnosis, or even bad marks at school can leave us overwhelmed and wanting to give up. Even things that happened in the past can feel too challenging to overcome.

Life isn’t fair, and we can easily fall into a “why me mentality.”

We overcome this attitude by inviting God instead of our circumstances to change how we think and act. God may not always change things, but He will change us. God’s disruptive grace brings hope and stops us from falling prey to a victim mindset.

God’s truth breaks through our thinking and opens our eyes to a much bigger reality when we look beyond ourselves to His greater narrative.

The Bible tells us in Romans 8:37, “In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” As we prioritize God’s way over our own, we are overcomers and live above our circumstances.
