Prioritize vs. React

Sometimes, I take on too many projects at once or try to be there for too many people.

I can become worn out even in my desire to help others and then get disappointed in myself for not doing more.

Trying to do too much is exhausting. Taking on too much responsibility is overwhelming. To be effective and live in peace, we must prioritize.

This year, I have prayerfully prioritized both activities I’m involved in and people I care about and consider them before saying yes to something new. I’m sure I will disappoint others and, at times, myself, but hopefully, God and my family less.

There are many good things to do and wonderful people to help, but we can’t do it all. We must prioritize. To be effective, we must focus on what is most important; otherwise, our efforts are diluted, and we will react to whatever is in front of us instead of doing what is best.

Ephesians 5:15-16 wisely tell us, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time.
