While focusing on ourselves is natural, it may not lead to the common good. Independence doesn’t always consider others, and self-centeredness does not bring us together.
When we grow in faith, God opens our hearts to care about the needs of others. A real relationship with God should transform all our relationships because He cares deeply about how we treat each other. As we prioritize God’s way over our own, we forgive more easily and love without strings attached. We begin to care more about the things that God cares about than our own desires.
We examine things from different angles, not only how it affects us but how it relates to others.
As my dear friend says, “Let us rise to selflessness.” Together embracing one of God’s greatest commandments found in Mark 12:31: “To love each other as ourselves.”
